Footwear Production Operative: Lasting

THE GIG


Our Lasting Operative will perform vital operations in the factory as part of the production team. Skilled in manufacturing processes on a lasting line - our method includes back part moulding, side & toe lasting, welt sewing, heat sealing and trimming among other operations. A range of footwear production equipment is utilised to make large batches and individual and sample works.

Your eye for detail will ensure our standards are met in our making area. This role will report directly to our Production Supervisor.


As our Lasting Operative, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating a range of the machinery with a timely performance of production operations on bulk, prototype and sample production completed to specified quality standards.
  • Performing many of the steps required to achieve on time delivery and the highest standards of production in Dr. Martens boots and shoes.
  • Adjusting methods of working for different shapes and materials and performing the varied tasks to a consistent level.
  • Addressing all quality issues, production errors and equipment problems. We’ll need you to recognise and refer to Factory management any issues that occur so that resources are not wasted.


THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • Previous experience in footwear production
  • Good eye for detail including Health & Safety Awareness
  • Professional approach to manufacturing and the risks involved in operating machinery.
  • Focus on delivering to target and adapting to the needs of the production environment quickly
  • Awareness of potential quality issues
  • Keen to learn more on the job about our products and how it can be made and improved.


At DM your technical capability will go hand in hand with the below:

  • Be a good communicator, resilient, adaptable to regular and ongoing change to work tasks & priorities
  • You’ll have good attention to detail, a systematic approach & be meticulous in your work You will be well organised and comfortable working to tight deadlines: you’ll be able to prioritise workload accordingly and be comfortable to work within guidelines / process
  • Great relationship management that delivers results through effective teamwork
