Competitive salary plus benefits

Dr. Martens is a globally recognisable and culturally influential British brand, with 65 years of rich heritage, rooted in craftmanship. As brand custodians, we are lucky to work for a dynamic, thriving, and ethical business, with people from diverse backgrounds, who bring their true selves to work, and where anyone can grow their career.

We are guided by three core values that are at the heart of everything we do: be yourself, act courageously, and show you care. They make us who we are and inspire us to push boundaries, embrace our individuality, and stand up for what's right.

SO, WHAT’S THE STORY?

We're looking for someone to perform precise stitching and assembly tasks on high-quality leather components. You are responsible for the "upper" of the boot - the part that everyone sees - ensuring every seam meets the iconic Dr. Martens durability and aesthetic standards.

THE ROLE

  • Industrial Sewing: Operate heavy-duty industrial sewing machines to join leather uppers, linings, and reinforcements.
  • Component Prep: Skiving (thinning leather edges), eyeleting, and labelling components before they hit the stitching line.
  • Quality Control: Conduct "first-off" inspections to ensure stitch tension, pitch, and alignment are perfect. Leather is an organic material; you must spot flaws before they are sewn.
  • Detailing: Executing the signature details, such as the reinforcement stitching on the "Stay" and attaching the iconic heel loops.
  • Output Consistency: Maintaining a steady pace to meet daily production targets without sacrificing the "Made in England" quality.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Exceptional steady hands and the ability to follow complex stitch lines on curved leather.
  • Experience: Previous experience with industrial sewing machines (flatbed or post-bed) is highly preferred, though manual dexterity from similar trades is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: You’ll need a "keen eye" to ensure leather grains match and stitches are uniform.
  • Resilience: Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy factory environment while maintaining focus on repetitive, high-precision tasks.
