SO, WHAT’S THE STORY?

Our Made In England (MIE) factory, based in Wollaston, Northamptonshire— birthplace of the Dr. Martens brand and our iconic 1460 boot—is undergoing an exciting transformation. We’re introducing modern manufacturing techniques to create a more efficient environment while preserving our traditional craftsmanship.

THE GIG

Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager will play a key role in keeping things running smoothly on the shopfloor, bringing fresh energy, while driving improvements to boost productivity.

You’ll be overseeing the entire production process, making sure day-to-day operations are running smoothly, while helping to bring the transformation to life. Your focus will be on ensuring that the MIE factory operates at its best,

As our MIE Production Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day manufacturing processes, ensuring we hit our production targets and meet business goals.
  • Lead and inspire an incredible team, driving high levels of performance and engagement.
  • Support the Plant Manager in championing change management and continuous improvement initiatives to keep us moving forward.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • Proven experience in production management within a manufacturing environment, ideally with exposure to modern production techniques. (Bonus points for leather experience!)
  • Strong grasp of production processes, including scheduling, equipment maintenance, quality control, and improvement methodologies like Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen.
  • Leadership skills that motivate and develop teams, ensuring a collaborative and high-energy atmosphere.
  • Invent: challenge conventions, respect our heritage, and bring practical suggestions for improvement.
  • Influence: share ideas confidently, listen with empathy, and inspire enthusiasm with your positive, strong communication skills.
  • Drive: take pride in our brand, seek out opportunities for improvement, and deliver on promises with initiative, resilience, and integrity.
