Senior Lab Technician

THE GIG

Based at our Made In England factory in Wollaston, Northamptonshire – the birthplace of our iconic 1460 boot - the SATRA-accredited Dr. Martens UK laboratory is where we test all Research & Development materials and products.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of our UK in-house laboratory - maintaining operational excellence across quality systems and equipment, implementing our agreed test methods to a high standard, presenting accurate test data. Working independently, you’ll keep the lab running smoothly and efficiently, delivering accurate and reliable data in line with agreed methods.

As our Senior Lab Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading the day-to-day operation of the UK in-house laboratory, ensuring efficient workflows, reliable testing, and upkeep of equipment and systems
  • Managing your own workload to meet agreed timelines and priorities, delivering high-quality test data in line with defined methods
  • Managing timelines, KPI tracking, and the reporting of our lab test reports in line with wider best practice across DM’s
  • Partnering with the Health & Safety (H&S) team to ensure adherence to Safe Systems of Work and wider H&S requirements
  • Undertaking the annual SATRA accreditation program audit

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • Knowledge in performance testing, physical testing, product safety requirements
  • Familiar with ISO 17025, extensive experience in SATRA testing methods
  • Experience managing lab operations and maintaining an organised, high-performing work environment, demonstrating strong ownership of day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Experience in footwear or leather products would be fantastic bonus!
