Global Head of Executive Reward

Dr. Martens is a globally recognisable and culturally influential British brand, with over 60 years of rich heritage. As brand custodians, we are lucky to work for a dynamic, thriving, and ethical business, with people from diverse backgrounds, who bring their true selves to work, and where anyone can grow their career.

We are guided by three core values that are at the heart of everything we do: be yourself, act courageously, and show you care. They make us who we are and inspire us to push boundaries, embrace our individuality, and stand up for what's right.

SO, WHAT’S THE STORY?

Back in 2018 we implemented a Total Reward Framework, servicing a privately owned business with 1,600 employees. DMs growth has been extraordinary and today we are a far more complex listed business. With 3,500 employees in 20 countries, we’re on a journey of enormous transformation and change; not least in the Reward team.

THE GIG

As a newly created position, our Global Head of Executive Reward will be responsible for building a world-class Executive Reward function. Collaborating with your peers in HR Operations, Payroll, HRIS, and Employee Relations, you will be instrumental in shaping and forming a global Centre of Excellence (CoE) and playing a key role in the DM's Reward & HR Infrastructure Leadership Team.

We’re looking for a subject matter expert who will use their expertise to shape our executive reward and share plans agenda. Reporting to the Reward & HR Infrastructure Director, you’ll be supported by an Executive Reward Manager and be responsible for the design and delivery of best-in-class executive level compensation policies and processes, whilst helping to define the future executive reward and share plans strategy. The role will be varied, and every day will be different; from designing and implementing long-term incentives, drafting papers and preparing for Remuneration Committee meetings, to creating compelling packages for senior hires.

As our Global Head of Executive Reward, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing compelling compensation proposals for senior roles and foster relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and governance requirements for executive reward and share plans.
  • Leading strategy development aligned with organisational goals and market competitiveness.
  • Managing end-to-end processes for the Remuneration Committee and annual pay review.
  • Reviewing and managing incentive programs, job evaluations, and long-term incentive plans.
  • Staying updated on regulatory changes and budget executive reward costs effectively.
  • Overseeing pensions, benefits, global mobility, and diversity initiatives.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • Seasoned Executive Reward professional, currently operating at a “Head of” or equivalent level, with in-depth knowledge of all things executive reward, from compensation principles (ideally in a global environment), regulatory compliance and best practices in a PLC, to share plans management.
  • Experience designing and implementing competitive executive reward strategies, fostering a positive employee experience, and supporting talent retention and attraction efforts.
  • Demonstrate great leadership behaviours and a passion for coaching and developing others to drive performance.
  • Highly numerate and analytical, with advanced MS Excel capabilities. Your ability to handle large sets of data combined with your critical thinking will enable you to spot trends and themes.
  • Make sound recommendations based on market data analysis and be comfortable determining a way forward when data is ambiguous.
  • Plan and organise work effectively, handling multiple priorities and demonstrating sound judgement on priorities and timing.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Being able to educate others on the benefits of having solid reward principles will be critical to the success of this role.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • 65% off all Docs
  • Award-winning ‘Buy As You Earn’ Dr. Martens share plan
