SO, WHAT'S THE STORY?
- The role is to lead financial accounting operations for APAC including accounting and reporting, taxation, internal & business controls, treasury, optimise entity structures and financial system management capabilities.
THE GIG
- The aim is to head the APAC Finance Accounting team working closely with the Heads of Finance in Japan, China & Korea. Creating a world class structure and strategic partnership with operations and management. Ensuring finance to be the trusted advisor and be ahead of the game regarding all commercial and financial challenges of the APAC business.

- To deliver APAC as the best-in-class Financial Accounting function for Dr Martens.
- Upscaling the APAC Finance structure for efficiency, robust and agile to match the business development. And proactively collaborate with GM, local functions, Regional and Global finance to professionalise their areas
- Take up the challenge to own a high performing team of finance professionals with a sustainable vision of retaining, coaching & development for a strong bench and creating forward thinking mindset to facilitate rapid business development.
- Leading the Financial Accounting function to be technically sound, accurate, prompt, reliable and trusted.
- To be part of the Region’s key financial think tank strategizing business structure, identifying critical success factors and development blockers. Setting in motion prime options to address vital areas.
- Demonstrating leadership with vibrant team dynamics. The importance of a fitting management style towards the DM culture and characteristics. Be open and progressive to team members uplifting them to be better. Championing excellence in business ethics and integrity, cross cultural effectiveness, and employee engagement.
To be our Head of Financial Accounting for APAC, you will also possess these qualities:
- Solid managerial experience with big four. Experience with listed companies would be advantageous.
- A proven record of accomplished success leading the Financial Accounting function in international retail brands.
- Hands on knowledge of ERP such as Microsoft D365 enhancing system and data efficiency with IT development teams.
- Experience with complex operating and financial setups, demonstrated success in evaluating risks and developing proactive strategies and planning abilities to mitigate business issues.
- Knowledgeable in generally accepted finance and accounting policies, principles, and controls. Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills; clear and concise in presenting complex matters to global leadership and stakeholders.
- Understanding in operations of various business channels such as Direct to Consumers (Brick & Mortar and Digital) and B2B (Distributors, Franchise and Wholesalers), Industry related logistic and pricing model knowledge would be an advantage.
- A leader and role model with proven track record of developing seasoned professionals and maximising team engagement.
- Hands-on, responsible, independent, self-motivated and highly skilled in critical decision making.
- Strong people management and team development skills, initiative to collaborate, influence and persuade at all levels to achieve results.
- Proficient communication skills in English and one of Mandarin, Japanese or Korean; effective in business presentation skills.
- Travel within region will be required.
