Interim Group Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager - 8 month FTC

THE GIG

The Interim Group Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager will work within the Group Financial Control team reporting to the Head of Group Reporting. The key focus of this role will be supporting on all IFRS technical accounting matters and ensuring that financial reporting is of a high standard produced to specified deadlines for external reporting.

As our Interim Group Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising of a team of 3 direct reports: 1 Technical Group Reporting Accountant and 2 Group Reporting Accountants.

Ownership and management of financial statements process and audit:

  • Producing consolidated interim/full year financial statements, disclosure notes and supporting documentation for review by senior Finance stakeholders and external auditors.
  • Coordinating multiple teams to deliver work to a set timetable and established standards.
  • Manage the relationship with our external auditor, liaising on deliverables and issues.
  • Critical evaluation of audit requests and financial statement comments.

Technical accounting subject matter expert:

  • Key point of contact for technical accounting across the Group.
  • Provision of knowledge and support across all Global Finance teams.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical accounting papers for senior Finance stakeholders, the Audit Committee, and external auditors.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the impact and implementation of new accounting, auditing, and corporate reporting standards.
  • Creating and delivering learning materials to Global Finance teams.
  • Review and ownership of IFRS 16 accounting across the Group.

Other Group Finance responsibilities:

  • Preparing other internally reported financial information on a recurring basis.
  • Managing the Dr. Martens Foundation monthly journals, management accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Supporting other teams on month-end processes as required, including Group consolidation tasks.
  • Ensuring Regional Finance team submissions to Group Reporting and local authorities are consistent with Group policies.
  • Supporting the maintenance of controls and segregation of duties matrices.
  • Assisting with coaching and development of other Global Finance team members.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • Qualified ACA, with extensive experience of IFRS and listed organisations.
  • Experienced and proactive manager and coach.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail, pride in producing quality work and determination to deliver outstanding results.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Extensive experience of preparing or auditing IFRS financial statements and complex technical accounting scenarios.
  • Excellent knowledge of group and multi-currency consolidation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to juggle multiple commitments effectively.
  • Industry experience preferred but not essential.
