As Made in England (MIE) Plant Manager you’ll be responsible for leading our MIE factory strategy and overall production strategy, as well as overseeing day-to-day Operations & Centre of Excellence.

An inspirational, creative leader and Dr Martens brand custodian, you’ll drive excellence in performance in line with KPIs, partnering with Engineering to drive innovation in manufacturing automation.

The role is based at our MIE factory in Northamptonshire.

At Dr Martens, we champion individuality and want people to play to their strengths. We’ve listed below some key accountabilities for the role however if you don’t have experience across all these areas but can demonstrate transferable skills and your potential, let us know how we can best set you up for success.

  • Driving the sustainability of manufacturing operations through automation of the production line.
  • Developing a team of highly motivated and capable people, leading through a collaborative management style.
  • Building strong relationships within a complex and matrix organisation
  • Driving a custodian mindset, uncompromisingly protecting product quality

  • An experienced Plant / Factory Manager, passionate about delighting the customer and meeting performance targets. Experience in Footwear would be a bonus but isn’t essential.
  • An inspirational leader who can get the best out of a diverse team, instilling a brand custodian mindset, translating strategy into action.
  • Ability to translate best practice and performance standards into lean and agile micro-scale manufacturing principles.
  • Inspire people: share a vision and plan linked to our strategy; make people feel they are part of something bigger; grow your people’s confidence and capacity through coaching and development.
  • Deliver results: empower and hold yourself and your people accountable; create a safe environment to drive performance and progress, not perfection; be agile, find solutions and deliver with integrity.
