Functional Materials Assistant (Footwear)

THE GIG


Report to Functional Material Manager, this incumbent is responsible for contributing to the component’s development activities (including trial out, colour approval). He/ she will drive effective communication on development follow up with suppliers, maintain accurate tracking charts, assuring functional material is compliant with corporate standards with respect to approvals, policies, and regulations.


THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APAR


  • Support and contribute to the component development process (including trial out, Colour Approval), covering footwear trims and accessories
  • Partner with manager to develop new resources of trims that enhance product performance and minimize cost and lead-time
  • Work with Quality, Supply Chain teams to resolve any quality and shipment issues
  • Liaise with internal and external parties to ensure the production is on track and the quality is up to corporate standard
  • Maintain accurate tracking charts of product development, lead-time, price, OTB dates, submit due dates
  • Evaluate suppliers in line with company's corporate social responsibility and general materials requirements (banned substance) policy
  • Request, receive and validate trim detail sheets from suppliers
  • Establish strong business relationships with vendors for product development and production
  • Maintain all trim records including specification lead time and trim pricing.
  • Maintain and update system data, charts, and generate reports
  • Keep abreast of industry changes, market intelligence, fashion trends, new resources and opportunities.

To be our Functional Material Assistant you will also possess these qualities:


  • Bachelor’s degree in footwear, fashion & textile, buying or equivalent
  • At least 4 years’ experience in sourcing, development and purchasing, experience gained from global retail business will be an advantage
  • Experience in handling footwear, trims and accessories is a plus
  • Familiar with the specificities of Asian sourcing
  • Credible, responsible, independent
  • Effective time management and project management skills with an attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite (Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), and database management
  • Excellent spoken and written English. Native Vietnamese. Chinese speaking will be an advantage
