Investor Relations and Corporate Communications Manager

Dr. Martens is a globally recognisable and culturally influential British brand, with over 60 years of rich heritage. As brand custodians, we are lucky to work for a dynamic, thriving, and ethical business, with people from diverse backgrounds, who bring their true selves to work, and where anyone can grow their career.

We are guided by three core values that are at the heart of everything we do: be yourself, act courageously, and show you care. They make us who we are and inspire us to push boundaries, embrace our individuality, and stand up for what's right.

THE GIG

Investor Relations and Corporate Communications are responsible for all external communications and Investor Relations stakeholder engagement. This critical team bridges our company with the investment community, analysts, media, and key corporate audiences, ensuring transparency, consistency, and holistic brand storytelling.

Reporting to the Director of Investor Relations & Corporate Communications, the Investor Relations and Corporate Communications Manager will be a strong number two, working closely together on all aspects of the IR and Comms Strategy. The Manager will be responsible for executing the day-to-day activities of the function — including financial results, investor engagement and liaising with our corporate comms agency. The role also includes line management responsibility for one team member (the Investor Relations and Corporate Communications Coordinator). This person will work closely with the Executive Directors and across Finance, wider comms functions, Legal, Sustainability and build strong connections across the business.

The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills. It also requires the ability to carefully manage relationships outside the company, understanding the regulatory backdrop and specific requirements of the audiences. The individual must be flexible and able to adapt to a new environment, operating in a high-pressure environment around reporting cycles. The individual will be financially qualified and have a keen interest in Investor Relations and Corporate Communications.

As our Investor Relations and Corporate Communications Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting and driving the preparation of results statements, presentations and supporting documents (including questions and answers), together with the Annual Report and quarterly trading statements.
  • Organising results and investor events and overseeing the management of the Investor Relations financial calendar.
  • Building relationships with corporate brokers and corporate communication advisors; direct interaction with sell-side analysts; ensuring published research on the company and sector is analysed and shared internally.
  • Ownership of sell-side analyst consensus, ensuring it is accurate and up to date internally and on the website.
  • Being a key point of contact, responding to investor and analyst queries, and internal queries, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Supporting the Investor Relations and Corporate Communications Director in investor meetings and conferences, taking ownership of meetings independently in due course.
  • Developing and maintaining detailed understanding of financial performance and operations of the business.
  • Taking the lead on production of the monthly Investor Relations board reports, with updates on share register movements, market valuation, consensus and key investor feedback.

THE STUFF THAT SETS YOU APART

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • Financially qualified with relevant qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA)
  • A strong interest in Investor Relations; previous IR or capital markets experience would be desirable but isn’t essential – if no experience an understanding from day 1 of capital markets is required.
  • Familiarity with financial modelling techniques and valuation methods used by analysts and investors.
  • Highly organised with the ability to take the initiative, with the ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and be able to work at pace meeting tight deadlines.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently where necessary and a strong leader, with an authentic and engaging approach.
  • Excited and driven by a transformation and growth agenda.
  • Comfortability working across all levels in the business including with the CEO, CFO and Global Leadership Team.
  • You will take ownership for your own development, proactively seeking out feedback to build self-awareness.
