Engineering Apprentice

Dr. Martens is a globally recognisable and culturally influential British brand, with over 60 years of rich heritage. As brand custodians, we are lucky to work for a dynamic, thriving, and ethical business, with people from diverse backgrounds, who bring their true selves to work, and where anyone can grow their career.

We are guided by three core values that are at the heart of everything we do: be yourself, act courageously, and show you care. They make us who we are and inspire us to push boundaries, embrace our individuality, and stand up for what's right.

Our product is steeped in history, and it is our role as brand custodians to protect it. The first boot, created by Engineers, started the iconic legacy we now have, and looking to the future, engineering is key to delivering the next 60 years. We’re looking to further build our capability in this space with an Apprentice Engineer who will sit as part of our Global Supply Chain team reporting into our Prototype engineer.

Our Engineering team have been making tools and moulds since we started, and as we move forward, we want to protect this skillset, as well as looking to new more modern ones for future production. As the Engineering Apprentice, you’ll be paired with our most experienced engineers, to help you learn, develop and grow. The future is going to be in your hands, its going to be hands on and dirty work, but a good mix of old school machining, problem solving, and modern CNC analysis.

As our Apprentice Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Support production of moulds, jigs, and ancillary equipment
  • Supporting Prototype engineers in their work, inc. planning & evaluation of work
  • Support, maintain and improve current production.
  • Support the research and development to trial of new processes and technologies.

Put simply, for this role the key things we’re looking for are:

  • Puts Safety first.
  • Ability to work with technical drawings and documents
  • Hands on working, with old and modern machines
  • Problem solver, and able to use initiative when needed
  • Good Communicator
